Dear Firearms Enthusiast, Liberty supporter, Citizen!
Recently, the US Center for Disease Control (CDC) reviewed the past US gun laws, both Federal and State.
They found no proof - and I mean no proof that such laws reduce crime. Similar results were achieved by Colin Greenwood in the UK and Valeri Polozov in Russia. Today, the only question for any reasonable scientist is not whether gun laws do good - it's whether they do harm or have no influence at all. Some experts also claim that gun control is a threat to global civil rights. (Here's an example: "Gun Ownership and Human Rights" by David B. Kopel, Joanne D. Eisen, and Paul Gallant.) Yet the UN Department of Disarmament Affairs (DDA) continues backing programs like the The Gramsh Pilot Project (a gun "buy-back project" in the Balkans) and limitations on small arms ownership, ignoring the dangers of the policy. Send them an e-mail at <ddaweb@un.org> with "Office of the Under-Secretary-General" as the subject line (so that they'll know which branch of the DDA you're writing to, as they don't have separate e-mails). Tell them what you think. The UN was supposed to stand for peace and freedom. Make them do their job.
Boris Karpa, SDN President
Please CC your e-mail to the DDA to us at <johnny@dvc.org.uk> or <karpa@netvision.net.il> so we can publish it.
